“I try to absorb the best” - Mayssa Bastos learns to become a better fighter from those who have been part of her journey

Brazilian grappler Mayssa Bastos has accomplished many feats given her life-long experience in learning, and she will show her skills when challenging ONE atomweight submission grappling queen Danielle Kelly.

Both Bastos and Kelly will enter a world title tilt at ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2, from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Throughout her career, the BJJ black belt said she had learned many things, both in terms of skills and beyond, from all the legends and everyone around her to reach this point.

She shared that in a recent interview with ONE Championship ahead of her first world title showdown in the organization:

“All the people who have been and are part of my career, I try to absorb the best. I am shy and quiet, but well observant, and I always try to absorb the best in people, whether it’s hard work, consistency, or the way the person behaves, whether he or she is a respectful person.”

Truth be told, given her accolades as a highly decorated and successful BJJ athlete, the 26-year-old will surely want to create a major upset over the reigning queen Kelly in their crucial match.

Mayssa Bastos wants to end Danielle Kelly's reign as soon as possible

For Mayssa Bastos, her upcoming title fight will not only allow her to top her ascent in the organization, but it may also prove that she's got what it takes to make a short reign for ONE atomweight submission grappling queen Danielle Kelly.

The 28-year-old queen is making her first title defense at ONE Fight Night 24 after defeating Jessa Khan to claim the inaugural belt last September, all while keeping her pristine record at 3-0.

On the other hand, Bastos is coming off a victorious debut in March, and she will enter this match with a lot of experience from her time in the BJJ world.

ONE Fight Night 24 will emanate live from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in U.S. primetime free of charge for those with active Amazon Prime Video subscription in North America.
