“I try to help out my community” - ‘Reug Reug’ says he’ll always lift his community in Senegal as he rises through the MMA ranks

Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane has been steadily building a solid career in ONE Championship since signing with the promotion three years ago. While he is at it, he is making sure that he helps out and be an inspiration to his community in Senegal.

The 32-year-old powerhouse touched on this in an interview with ONE Championship as he girds for his world title bid at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 in Thailand. He will challenge Russian juggernaut Anatoly Malykhin for his heavyweight MMA world title.

'Reug Reug' shared that for the success he is having he also has his people back home in mind, saying:

"I came from a small village in Dakar, Senegal, so I try to help out my community as much as I can. I do a lot of charity work for the community."

At ONE 169, 'Reug Reug' is gunning for the biggest victory of his career and take his place alongside the elite list of ONE world champions. Heading into his showdown with Malykhin, he is packing a lot of momentum, winning his last four matches.

The Malykhin-Reug Reug title match will be the headlining contest at ONE 169, which will take place at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok and airing live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.


Anatoly Malykhin downplays 'Reug Reug' threat at ONE 169

While Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane has impressively willed his way to title contention, reigning ONE heavyweight MMA world champion Anatoly Malykhin is seemingly unbothered by it ahead of their title clash at ONE 169 on Nov. 8 in Thailand.

He shared his take on the Senegalese challenger in an interview with ONE Championship, highlighting how he does not see his opponent engaging with him and will just wilt to the pressure that he will be imposing.

'Sladkiy' said:

"He's a safe fighter. He is simply a coward."
