"I've always been an emotional person" - Jarred Brooks says becoming a husband and a father changed him for the better
Jarred Brooks is always looking to improve as a mixed martial artist with each and every fight and training camp. Evolving his skills is key to staying at the top of the strawweight division which he will look to do in his next fight.
But, alongside his skills, Brooks has also gone through changes as a person which have affected his motivation and mindset coming into August 2.
The former strawweight champion isn't just fighting for his own personal gain anymore, he's doing it to support his wife and daughter who never fail to inspire him.
Brooks spoke about this in a recent interview with ONE Championship where he spoke about how his family aids him through life by being there for every step:
"I've always been an emotional person, so it's not like I just put myself out there for my daughter or my wife. They just help me get through my emotions, either through happy emotions or through sad emotions. They help me with those and they're with me through life."
Jarred Brooks is fired up for his return
Jarred Brooks didn't need much more motivation for this contest after what happened at ONE 166 where he lost his strawweight title. The former champ is now out to claim the interim belt in the main event on August 2 when he takes on a fellow top contender in Cuba's Gustavo Balart.
Doing his family proud and setting an example for his daughter on what is possible is spurring him on just as much as getting his hand raised.
This trip to Lumpinee Stadium means more now than ever and that makes Brooks a dangerous man to come up against at this stage.
He was already arguably the best in his weight class but now is his time to prove it once again.
