“I've got all these crazy stories to tell” - Liam Harrison looks back into his early fighting days in Thailand
British Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison has had a lot memorable fight experiences in his long and established career, including those from his early days competing in Thailand when he said it was still practically every man for himself.
'Hitman' shared this in an exclusive interview with MMA TV. He touched on various phases of his fighting career, including when there was still no big organized groups like ONE Championship, where fighters can showcase their skills and earn considerable amount of money, and before the explosion of social media.
Liam Harrison said:
"I've never been driven by money or anything, it's always about love. It's good that I've got all these crazy stories to tell. There was a time when I used to bet on myself. And I told this story a few times."
Check out what he had to say below, beginning at 5:11:
Apart from Thailand, Liam Harrison, 38, has competed in the European circuit and other parts of Asia, compiling over 80 victories, winning half of them by knockout.
Since 2018, he has been competing in ONE Championship and is among the noted Muay Thai fighters in the bantamweight division.
Liam Harrison makes long-awaited return at ONE 168
Liam Harrison is set to make his long-awaited return to competition later this year in the United States after two years on the sidelines because of a knee injury.
The Leeds. England, native will battle Thai veteran Seksan Or Kwanmuang in a catchweight (140 pounds) Muay Thai showdown at ONE 168 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. on Sept. 6.
It will be his first match back since he injured his knee during his title clash against former bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Hama in August 2022 in Singapore.
Liam Harrison tried to return to action a couple of times earlier but found himself pushing it back as his knee was not fully healed yet.
Prior to getting injured, 'Hitman' was riding back-to-back victories, both by knockout inside the opening round, earning him a title shot against Nong-O.
Waiting for Harrison at ONE 168 is Seksan, 35, winner of eight of nine fights since making his promotional debut in January last year.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver, which will take place at Ball Arena, are already available on Ticketmaster. It will also be broadcast live and for free to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
