"I waited until he was done training" - Strawweight Muay Thai queen Smilla Sundell recalls meeting boxing icon Tyson Fury
Reigning and undisputed ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world champion 'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell thought it was just a regular day of training at Fairtex when she looked across the gym floor and could not believe what she saw.
There, boxing legend and British icon Tyson Fury was in the gym, hitting the heavy bags.
Speaking to Calf Kick Sports in a recent interview, Sundell recalled meeting Fury and what it was like to be in his presence.
'The Hurricane' said:
"He trained in the back area [at Fairtex]. I got two photos with him. The first photo, I didn't like, so it was before his training. I waited until he was done training and got another picture, a good picture with him."
Needless to say, Sundell is just like any other 19-year-old meeting the larger-than-life Tyson Fury. She was completely star-struck.
'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell is set to defend her ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai gold against Russia's Natalia Diachkova at ONE Fight Night 22: Sundell vs. Diachkova on Prime Video.
The event broadcasts live from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

19-year-old Swedish teenage sensation 'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell believes upcoming opponent Natalia Diachkova of Russia won't be able to handle the heat that she throws.
Sundell is known for her towering height and long reach, which makes her boxing a very big problem to deal with for any opponent.
She told the South China Morning Post:
"[I've been working on] everything -- kicks, punches. Yeah, everything. But my sharpest weapon is my boxing."
