"I want to contend for the belt again" - Danny Kingad has sights on vacant flyweight MMA throne if he beats Adriano Moraes
Third-ranked flyweight MMA contender Danny Kingad is hoping to become the new face of MMA if he surpasses former rival Adriano Moraes in winning fashion at ONE 169: Atlanta.
'The King' has a second opportunity to prove why he's deserving of the vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title. His first chance at gold got a lot of attention back in November 2017.
Kingad was previously unbeaten in three straight matches before challenging Moraes for the 135-pound belt. On paper, the Filipino stalwart had a lot going for him as a dangerous and unpredictable striker. But Moraes gave him plenty of problems on the ground, before handing him his first loss under the promotion.
However, the dream to be a ONE world champion remains. If he can finally defeat Adriano Moraes, then he'll be ready for the next step.
Speaking to The MMA Superfan on YouTube, 'The King' said:
"I have to get over this hump and be even better than that. I want to contend for the belt again."
Tickets for ONE 169: Atlanta are available via Ticketmaster.
"People can expect a different Danny Kingad" - Lions MMA Club representative Danny Kingad believes Adriano Moraes will be shocked with a new and improved version of himself
Danny Kingad is in the perfect position right now to overcome Adriano Moraes' MMA defenses on Nov. 8 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Although Kingad's rise to the top has stalled a bit these last seven years, he's never stopped training. After his submission loss to Moraes, Kingad has transformed every victory into a dominant unanimous decision.
With a reputation of being a busy striker, 'The King' wants just one thing to remain consistent in all his years of fighting:
"People can expect a different Danny Kingad each match. When they see me compete next time, it's going to be a lot different."
