“I want to get humbled” - Jarred Brooks looking for ‘young kid’ to give him an ego check

Staying humble is not a hard feat for Jarred Brooks throughout his journey in mixed martial arts, but the former ONE strawweight MMA world champion wants to leave something big for the next generation.

As his crucial interim title fight against Gustavo Balart at ONE Fight Night 24 draws near, Brooks said that he wants to nurture the young guns in his circle to become greater than he is at this point, and he wants to start by giving firm examples.

And before the headliner tilt takes place inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on August 2, 'The Monkey God' sat down with South China Morning Post to discuss his future legacy in the sport.

He explained that this was not only about reclaiming the title he once held:

"I want to get humbled by one of these young kids one day and just be like, I was the biggest fan of you at one point in time. That made me super happy. That's all, it ain't about a belt."

If Brooks successfully secures the 26 pounds of gold once again, it is a certain bet that he would build on the momentum in the future.
