“I want more” - Alexis Nicolas hungry for another epic display vs. Regian Eersel at ONE Fight Night 25
After delivering a title-winning performance in April, reigning ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion Alexis Nicolas is chomping at the bit to get in the ring and do it once again.
This Friday, October 4, he'll have the chance to do exactly that when he defends his 26 pounds of gold against the same man he took the belt from earlier this year—Regian Eersel.
Nicolas vs. Eersel 2 will headline a loaded ONE Fight Night 25 card airing exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in both the United States and Canada.
Speaking with ONE Championship ahead of his first title defense, 'Barboza' was proud of the performance he delivered in his first fight with Eersel, but he's ready to go out and put on another show-stealing effort.
“I felt good, like 12 years of work, it took a long time, but I showed the world who I am. But, I wasn’t happy because I wanted to win by KO. So it was a good win, but I want more.”
Alexis Nicolas defends his status as a ONE world champion
In the months since their clash at ONE Fight Night 21, Regian Eersel has downplayed Nicolas' shocking win, suggesting that with the bout being so closely contested, 'Barboza' can't truly dub himself a world champion.
Responding to Eersel's comments, Nicolas reminded 'The Immortal' that he's not the one who decides who is or is not a champion.
"He doesn’t get to decide whether I’m a true champion or not," Nicolas told Sportskeeda MMA. "I have the belt, I am the champion. And I have to win again to stay there."
This Friday night, Nicolas will have to chance to prove to the world that his win over Eersel was no fluke and further establish himself as ONE's top dog in the lightweight kickboxing division.
ONE Fight Night 25 will air live via Amazon Prime Video in the United States and Canada on Friday, October 4 in U.S. primetime.
