“I want to walk away with a submission” - Danielle Kelly aims to finish decorated champion Mayssa Bastos early
Danielle Kelly will hunt for a submission victory over Mayssa Bastos in her next world title defense at ONE Fight Night 24.
Given her formidable arsenal and interesting style, she plans to attack as soon as the bell rings during the U.S. primetime card inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Although Kelly does not love to predict how her upcoming matches will go, she definitely knows what she's aiming for when it's time to go.
The 28-year-old queen told ONE Championship:
"Well, obviously, I want to walk away with a submission. I said that in my last match, and I feel like if I go against Jessa again, I'll submit her this time. But this match, yeah, I definitely want a submission, but it might just go to decision."
Nonetheless, this would not be easy given Bastos' skills on the ground and her determination to show off those skills in front of millions of fans who will be watching from all over the world.
ONE Fight Night 24 is available live and free of charge for all Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Danielle Kelly aims to use Mayssa Bastos' signature move against her
Danielle Kelly has thoroughly studied her next challenger, Mayssa Bastos, and she is brewing something ahead of their co-main event tilt at ONE Fight Night 24.
The American grappling superstar has devised a plan to submit Bastos with her own penchant for back takes, especially berimbolo.
Kelly told ONE Championship in the same interview:
"Taking [her] back. If I somehow got her back and choked her. You know, they all love taking the back, the Mendes brothers and everyone there. So it'd be kinda cool if I did that, if I played her game and [take] her out with her own move."
As both grapplers are dedicated students of the art, it would be amazing to see how Kelly plans to force a tap out of Bastos or vice versa in any way possible.
