"I went right back to work" - Denis Puric reveals camp for Rodtang took off immediately after Jacob Smith win

Denis Puric hasn't taken his foot off the gas ahead of what will be the biggest fight of his career to date.

Rather than taking some time after his last fight, 'The Bosnian Menace' went right back to work to prepare for June 7.

Even before he faced off with Jacob Smith at ONE Fight Night 21 in April, Puric had another opponent in mind that he wanted to face should he pick up the win.

After beating Smith via unanimous decision inside the revered Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the fight he was chasing finally came across his table.

Puric is now set to face off with Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a flyweight kickboxing bout on the huge ONE 167 card at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

The veteran was never going to pass up on this opportunity and that meant signing his name on the dotted line whatever the turnaround was.

In an interview with ONE Championship ahead of his clash against the flyweight Muay Thai king, Denis Puric spoke about how he went straight from the last fight into this one:

"I've been in camp for about eight weeks now, since the last fight. So immediately after the fight with Jacob Smith, they offered me the Rodtang fight, I accepted, and I went right back to work."

Denis Puric hopes that this win will usher in a new chapter

At 39 years old, Denis Puric is under no illusions about how much longer he has left in the striking sports.

However, a win over Rodtang would see him secure more momentum than ever before and he wants to keep pushing forward.

Puric believes that he belongs at the top level and beating 'The Iron Man' will certainly prove this.

From there, he hopes that he can continue to get the best out of his final years as a Muay Thai and kickboxing competitor in the flyweight division.

ONE 167 will air live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, next Friday, June 7. North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire card live in U.S. primetime for free.
