“I will try to come out on top” - Jarred Brooks says he never backs down when fighting ‘the best in the world’

Jarred Brooks never backs down from a fight—especially when it's against the best in the world.

After besting some of the biggest names in all of strawweight MMA, 'The Monkey God' will look to add another notable name to his hit list when he squares off with Cuban fan favorite Gustavo Balart in the ONE Fight Night 24 headliner on Friday, August 2.

The winner will leave the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok as the interim ONE strawweight MMA world champion, setting the stage for a future fight with undisputed titleholder Joshua Pacio.

Ahead of his highly anticipated return to the Mecca of Muay Thai, Jarred Brooks made it clear that no matter who he's fighting, when, or where, he will also go into a bout determined to leave with his hand raised.

“People underestimate the fact that, respectfully, I don’t give a f**k," Brooks told Sherdog.com. "I go in, and I fight the fight. Put me in the room with the best in the world, [and] I promise you I will try to come out on top.”

Thus far, Jarred Brooks has done a pretty good job of bullying his opponents inside the Circle. In his first four outings, he earned dominant victories over Lito Adiwang, Hiroba Minowa, Bokang Masunyane, and reigning ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio.

'The Monkey God' intends to deliver a similar result this Friday night when he meets streaking standout Gustavo Balart.

"I'm gonna get him in the corner, and I'm gonna bully him, and I'm gonna make him feel like the younger brother, even though he's older than me," Brooks told ABS-CBN.

While Brooks will be looking to once again wrap 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold around his waist, 'El Gladiador' will be going into his first title opportunity, sitting on a solid four-fight win streak dating back to July 2021.

ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE Fight Night 24 live and for free via Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, August 2.
