Ian Garry accuses Colby Covington of dodging UFC fight contract amid simmering feud, says "he's avoiding me like the plague"
Surging UFC welterweight prospect Ian Garry has been pushing for a fight against Colby Covington, even claiming in the past that he was supposed to fight the American at UFC 303. Garry ended up facing Michael Page and won the fight by unanimous decision.
Garry revealed that despite his eagerness, Covington did not respond positively, leading the UFC to lose interest and book a fight against Page instead. Garry also suggested that Covington sees him as a dangerous opponent and believes 'Chaos' is likely looking for easier fights to maintain his relevance in the sport.
Most recently, he took to Instagram to reveal that he has been offered a fight against Covington. He said:
"I'm coming on to keep everybody in the loop and keep everyone updated because it matters. A month ago, I was offered a fight with Colby Covington. It took me all of 20 seconds to respond to the email and say, 'Yes, I'm in!"
However, Garry added:
"A month later, we still have no response from Colby. He's avoiding me like the plague and there's one reason, and only one reason why this fight is not happening, and his name's Colby Covington."

Covington targeted Garry and his wife during the interviews leading up to his fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 296. The 36-year-old frequently labeled Garry as a “liar” while claiming he never received an official fight offer.
He has previously suggested that he wants Garry's wife to "get on her hands and knees" and plead for a fight against him. Garry, meanwhile, indicated that the personal attacks have fueled his desire to face Covington.
Dana White reveals plans to book a fight between Colby Covington and Ian Garry
UFC CEO Dana White has indicated that Ian Garry could potentially face Colby Covington in his next fight. White confirmed that Covington is among the "few options" being considered for Garry's next matchup, with the UFC actively seeking to finalize his next opponent.
Covington has been out of action since December 2023 and wields a 2-3 record in the last five octagon outings. Speaking about the potential fight during a recent post-fight press conference on Dana White's Contender Series, White said:
"We talked about Ian today and matchmaking. There are a few options and Colby Covington is definitely one of them. There are few options [and] we are trying to figure out what we want to do."
