Ian Machado Garry issues warning to Shavkat Rakhmonov ahead of UFC 310: "You're going to be severely mistaken"

Ian Machado Garry recently sounded off on Shavkat Rakhmonov and issued a warning to his former teammate ahead of their welterweight clash at UFC 310. The top-ranked welterweights are scheduled to compete in the co-main event, with the winner likely to receive a title shot against Belal Muhammad when he returns.

The Irishman is looking to capitalize on his opportunity as he stepped in to replace Muhammad and will take on his former Kill Cliff teammate. 'The Future' and 'Nomad' are no strangers to each other as they have sparred together in the past, with the Kazakh reportedly getting the better of Garry.

During his latest appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the Irishman clapped back at 'Nomad's' previous tweet saying that he would remind him of their training sessions. Machado Garry mentioned that those sparring sessions don't hold any merit because they are experimental and warned Rakhmonov that he's making a big mistake if he believes that is an indicator that he will defeat him on Saturday night:

"Training is training. What are we doing in training? We're trying to evolve and grow. We are trying to be better...do things that put us in scenarios where we need to learn, so if Shavkat [Rakhmonov] believes that the training we had in the past is going to be the same on Saturday night when he steps in that octagon with me...You're going to be severely mistaken and if I was you, I would change that mentality very quickly."

Ian Machado Garry promises to make a statement at UFC 310

In addition to issuing a warning to Shavkat Rakhmonov regarding his past comments, Ian Machado Garry expressed his confidence that he can finish the Kazakh at UFC 310.

During the aforementioned appearance, Machado Garry mentioned that he intends to make a statement to the MMA community at Rakhmonov's expense and believes he can hand him his first career loss by finishing him:

"I know I'm well capable of going out there and putting [Rakhmonov] in the dirt...I'm well capable of going out there and finishing him, beating him up and doing it beautifully...I am one of the greatest fighters this sport has ever seen and I'm gonna prove it by doing it against a guy that many think is the boogeyman."
