Ian Machado Garry reflects on first career loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310: "Who looked like they were gonna finish the fight?"

Ian Machado Garry recently reflected on his unanimous decision loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 last Saturday, which was the first loss of his professional career. Despite the loss, the Irishman hasn't lost his confidence and noted that he plans to get back in the title picture at 170 pounds in the new year.

Despite losing a unanimous decision, 'The Future' had plenty of momentum and nearly submitted 'Nomad' with a rear-naked choke in the final round. Rakhmonov managed to escape the submission, which was a pivotal moment in the fight as it could have cost him a welterweight title shot.

During his latest appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, the Irishman opened up about suffering his first loss:

"Leading into the fight, everyone was talking about how he choked me in training...Well, who looked like they were going to finish the fight on Saturday? It wasn't [Rakhmonov], it was only me...When we got back to the feet, I was winning...So the confidence isn't rattled, it's not going anywhere. I know how talented I am...I have no doubt in my mind next year I'll get that [welterweight] belt, no doubt whatsoever."
