Ian Machado Garry shares one-word reason for Charles Oliveira being in his corner team at UFC 310 against Shavkat Rakhmonov
Ian Machado Garry will return to action against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310, with the Irishman being accompanied by Charles Oliveira in his corner. 'Do Bronx' will be part of Machado Garry's fight night team for the first time, and the welterweight contender recently explained the decision.
The Brazilian is one of the most adored by fans in the sport, both for his persona outside of fighting and his exciting performances in the octagon.
For anyone concerned that the Dublin native may not be able to communicate with Oliveira, Machado Garry is able to speak Portuguese having lived in Brazil on-and-off for years.
Ahead of his UFC 310 clash with Rakhmonov, the 15-0 fighter was interviewed by ESPN MMA and was asked to share what 'do Bronx' will bring to his corner. He said:
"Energy. The biggest thing that I've ever encountered with Charles is his just got a phenomenal energy... He's just got this element of alpha to him. He walks around, he's got his little strut, but he's lazor focused. I love the dude... It's going to be great having him in my corner."

Ian Machado Garry buzzing with confidence ahead of Shavkat Rakhmonov clash
UFC 310 was originally set to feature a welterweight title clash between Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov, but the former suffered a bone infection in his toe roughly one month before the event and was forced out.
Ian Machado Garry replaced the injured champion and will now face Rakhmonov in a title eliminator. With both Machado Garry and his opponent entering the clash undefeated, everything will be on the line come Dec. 7.
'The Future' holds a 15-0 record, with eight finishes, while the Kazakh fighter is 18-0 with a staggering 18 finishes. Despite this, the Irishman is confident he will hand Rakhmonov his first defeat.
During a recent fight camp vlog uploaded to his YouTube channel, the welterweight contender said:
"Honestly, I was pushing for the Shavkat fight... Undefeated versus undefeated. We've trained together. We know how good we are. We both respect each other... But the truth is, I will take his 0 and I will take that belt."
