Ian Machado Garry takes aim at “mentally weak” Leon Edwards while discussing his nomadic approach to MMA gyms: “Wouldn’t even look me in the eye”

Ian Machado Garry is known for his desire to train at as many elite MMA gyms worldwide as possible, advice he took from Gilbert Burns when they trained together at Kill Cliff FC. But 'The Future' has also allegedly been asked to leave Renegade MMA in England, the home of former welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

According to several members of the Renegade team, Garry would not obey basic rules and respectful protocols, which ultimately saw him booted out. However, the Irishman recently touched on his saga with Team Edwards ahead of UFC 310, where the 27-year-old will face Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Garry was interviewed by Daniel Cormier ahead of his welterweight title eliminator. 'DC' discussed the 170-pound contender's decision to train with Diego Lima's Chute Box team in Brazil ahead of his upcoming clash.

This prompted the Dublin native to revisit his feud with Renegade MMA, saying this:

"Do you know what the truth is with Leon Edwards? He's mentally weak and he didn't like someone as talented as me on the mats with him. That's the truth. And it's his little puppet-master Dave Lovell [Edwards' coach] who says it all. He wouldn't even look me in the eye the day I walked out the gym, I'm like, 'What the f**k lads?'"

Ian Machado Garry warns Shavkat Rakhmonov ahead of their UFC 310 clash

UFC 310 will be headlined by a flyweight title clash between Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Asakura. Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry go to war in the co-main event, with the winner scheduled to face Belal Muhammad in 2025 for the welterweight title.

The co-main event duo have trained together in the past during the Irishman's time at Kill Cliff FC. There have been rumors that Rakhmonov knocked out 'The Future' during one of their sparring sessions.

Ahead of UFC 310, more rumors that the Kazakh fighter submitted Garry have emerged. The 27-year-old admitted that the submission rumors were true but warned his opponent not to take anything from their training sessions.

During his pre-fight media appearance, Garry said this:

"If he wants to latch onto a moment of success in training from two years ago and thinks I'm the same fighter I was then, then he would be sadly mistaken. I don't believe he is going to be latching on to anything like that. I believe he is being honest and he is saying this happened, which it did."
