"If it does come about, it comes about" - Jonathan Haggerty admits lack of interest in possible all-Brit war with Liam Harrison
Jonathan Haggerty still has an axe to grind against his fellow British fighter Liam Harrison. However, the two-sport bantamweight world champion revealed he no longer feels the need to settle this heated rivalry inside the Circle.
According to Haggerty, it won't make sense, given he's in the prime of his career and now lording over the 145-pound Muay Thai and kickboxing ranks. The 38-year-old Harrison, on the other hand, is just returning from a major knee injury and is admittedly entering the twilight of his legendary career.
'The General' made it clear he'd prefer to fight other contenders, especially in a possible ONE Championship event in the United Kingdom next year.
Jonathan Haggerty explained courtesy of Inside Fighting on YouTube:
"I don't think it's a fight that I'll be interested in or a fight that I'll necessarily chase, you know? It's more of the likes of Nico Carrillo."
Then again, Haggerty acknowledged that the promotion can still pair them up if Harrison can turn back the clock and make another run. The English striker will still sign the dotted line but don't expect him to actively push for it. He added:
"So yeah, if it does come about, it comes about. If it doesn't, it doesn't."
