“If you've got good hands, you're gonna go far” - Jonathan Haggerty says knockout power is everything in ONE
Jonathan Haggerty has been showing explosive firepower in his strikes, as proven by the golden belts under his name in the world's largest martial arts organization.
After claiming the flyweight Muay Thai crown, Haggerty moves up to bantamweight to rule both Muay Thai and kickboxing with iron fists, and he revealed that boxing is one of his favorite choice of weapons when facing Thai fighters.
Although he had to admit that those punches were not always working, especially when he locked horns with the now reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon, it is still his weapon of choice.
In a recent video dubbed as Retrospect with Jonathan Haggerty, the two-sport kingpin shared that he found this during his fight with Mongkolpetch in February 2022.
He said:
"I used to do boxing sparring a lot. My dad just took me to boxing coaches. I went down the Muay Thai route. So, yeah, I'd say I've got pretty good hands for a Thai boxer, which I think is key now, against the Thais."
He continued:
"That's how we're defeating the Thais now, by using the boxing. So if you've got good hands, you're gonna go far in ONE Championship, for sure.
