Ikram Aliskerov reacts hilariously to being named as Khamzat Chimaev's replacement for Robert Whittaker fight
UFC CEO Dana White recently announced that Ikram Aliskerov will step in for Khamzat Chimaev against Robert Whittaker in the headliner of UFC Saudi Arabia. Following the announcement, Aliskerov took to X with a hilarious reaction to White not knowing his social media handle while announcing the bout.
"Dana still don’t know my Twitter account, but it’s until next weekend"
Chimaev was forced to pull out of his fight due to a severe illness, leading to the UFC's announcement that Aliskerov will take on Whittaker on June 22 in Riyadh.
Although the Dagestani is relatively unknown to MMA fans, he will no doubt be looking to change that next weekend when he faces the toughest challenge of his career in 'The Reaper'.
Ikram Aliskerov's lone loss in his MMA career
When Ikram Aliskerov meets Robert Whittaker on June 22, he will enter the octagon with a 15-1 record. The only blot on his professional record came against the fighter he is replacing next Saturday.
Aliskerov fought Khamzat Chimaev in Brave FC back in 2019, well before the two men were part of the UFC. His defeat came by way of a devastating knockout when 'Borz' landed a thudding uppercut in the middle of an exchange. The knockout has been a part of Chimaev's highlight reel ever since.
Meanwhile, the Dagestani has handled himself remarkably well following the loss as he has never been defeated and has put together a seven-fight win streak.
Aliskerov will have his hands full in Riyadh, as his opponent has 16 wins in the UFC alone, more than he has had in his entire MMA career.
That being said, 11 of Aliskerov's wins have come by way of finish, and it will be intriguing to see him go up against a formidable former champion to see where he truly stands among the world's best.
