Ilia Topuria hits back at "hater" Sean O'Malley over 'Sugar' questioning his pound-for-pound status: "This one is ugly as f*ck"
UFC featherweight world champion Ilia Topuria might be entering his villain era. As of his recent media activities, 'El Matador' has been comfortable wearing the antagonist's garb, dropping some controversial comments on fellow fighters like Max Holloway, who is largely seen as his next title challenger.
In a recent tweet, Topuria targeted another fighter, fellow world champion 'Sugar' Sean O'Malley, who is the reigning UFC bantamweight kingpin. O'Malley, who currently ranks No. 6 in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings, questioned Topuria's No.5 ranking in the list.
O'Malley tweeted:
"How’s Ilia [Topuria] higher on p4p ? Less title defense and 5 inches shorter. Plz explain."
To this, Topuria responded with:
"Another hater, but this one is ugly as f**k ."
He even added more salt to the wound by posting a photo of Sean O'Malley's only loss:
"the explanation 😂"
Ilia Topuria goes on an aggressive rant to address haters: "Screw all of you"
In light of the recent hate he's been receiving from fans lately, Ilia Topuria took to X once again to once and for all address his detractors. In an impassioned tweet, the heavy-handed Spaniard had some choice words for those who are against him, saying:
"To all those who continue to doubt me. Screw all of you, I don't care about any of you. You just project your insecurities onto me. Your envy, born from your inability to pursue your desires, poisons the heart. Keep watching me shine!"
Fans were not having it, with X user @V4SKO saying:
"U are the worst champion with belt, u are inactive fighter and u want everytime money fight."
Meanwhile, @DKD2421 gave the world champion some harsh realities:
"It drives him [Topuria] crazy that he’s not getting the applause and love he expected for his little Conor 2.0 act lol."
The internet can certainly be unforgiving and the court of public opinion can bring the hammer down on anyone at the drop of a hat. So far, Ilia Topuria is taking it on the chin. It's yet to be seen how far he can take it.
