Ilia Topuria's wife Giorgina Uzcategui Badell posts heartfelt message as 'Matador' hits theaters: "I am so proud of you"
Ilia Topuria's wife, Giorgina Uzcategui Badell, shared an emotional message to reflect on a viewing party for the featherweight champion's documentary.
Earlier this year, Topuria secured a life-changing win inside the Octagon by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title. At 27 years old, 'El Matador' has overcome plenty of adversity in his professional MMA career and proved he's one of the best fighters in the promotion.
Filmax, a Spanish motion picture company, released a documentary about Topuria's life called 'Matador.' The UFC featherweight king and his wife attended a premiere event where they were dressed in fancy clothes and took pictures together.
Giorgina Uzcategui Badell recently posted a photo on Instagram of her and Ilia Topuria at the event and added the following heartfelt caption (translated from Spanish):
"Thank you to everyone who joined us on such a special day like yesterday. Our greatest wish is that many people can be inspired by history. To our super team for the great work @srmonoprod And the most special thanks go to God for uniting purposes for all this to come forward and for giving us everything he gives us."
Badell concluded by writing:
"Once again, I am so proud of you @iliatopuria despite any adversity you have been able to hold on to your dreams and prove that everything good in life is on the other side of fear and requires immense faith and actions. Husband, father to my kids, best friend and world champion. I love you and it fills me with happiness to grow together."
Ilia Topuria looks to back up his trash talk against Max Holloway
On October 26, Ilia Topuria will defend his featherweight title for the first time when the UFC returns to Abu Dhabi. Topuria's opponent for the UFC 308 main event is the legendary Max Holloway, a former world champion coming off an unforgettable knockout win against Justin Gaethje.
Heading into UFC 308, Topuria has voiced his confidence in the matchup, continuously downplaying Holloway's skills. 'El Matador' also believes he will be the first fighter to knock out Holloway, despite the latter never officially being knocked down in the Octagon.
To be fair, Topuria said similar things before fighting Alexander Volkanovski and proved the doubters wrong. Only time will tell if he can climb the pound-for-pound rankings with an impressive win against Holloway.
