"In giving back, I'm also healing myself" - Angela Lee gives an update on her life after retiring from MMA
Former ONE atomweight MMA queen Angela Lee treated her fans this week with an update on how life has been after her retirement from MMA in 2023.
The Singaporean-American superstar appeared on an episode of MightyCast with ONE world champion Demetrious Johnson in her home state of Hawaii to talk about her incredible journey as a mixed martial artist, as well as the work she's doing in raising mental health awareness within her community.
In this exclusive interview, Angela Lee also alluded to the impact her non-profit organization, Fightstory, is having on her healing process.
After losing her younger sister Victoria Lee in 2022, Lee finds comfort in expressing her grief outside of herself by helping others. She said:
"In giving back, I'm also healing myself and helping myself. You know, when you have a heart for others, when you have a heart for the community, life is not just about you going though it alone. It's a journey and you're meant to connect with people, and like for me, I'm lucky now."
