In Photos: Aljamain Sterling looks jacked as he shows off old school wrestling plate workout
Aljamain Sterling recently shared pictures of him doing an "old school wrestling plate workout" to prepare for his upcoming fight.
In April, Sterling made his featherweight debut against Calvin Kattar. The former UFC bantamweight champion looked phenomenal in his new weight class, as he dominated Kattar to secure a unanimous decision win at UFC 300.
On Oct. 5, 'Funk Master' looks to continue climbing the 145-pound division when he returns at UFC 307, which goes down inside the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sterling's upcoming opponent is the undefeated Movsar Evloev, who holds a promotional record of 8-0, all by decision.
Earlier this week, Sterling posted photos on Instagram of him working with a 35-pound plate. The 35-year-old added the following caption:
"Old school wrestling plate workout. All my wrestlers should know this is the number one conditioning training."
Before moving up to featherweight, Aljamain Sterling was unseated from the bantamweight throne by still-reigning king Sean O'Malley. Since then, O'Malley has defended against Marlon 'Chito' Vera and now looks to extend his run against Merab Dvalishvili at Saturday's highly anticipated UFC 306.

What's at stake between Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev?
The UFC featherweight division is currently run by Ilia Topuria, who knocked out Alexander Volkanovski for the title. Topuria's first defense will take place on Oct. 26 when he meets Max Holloway in the UFC 308 main event.
Meanwhile, number one-ranked Alexander Volkanovski and the winner of Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes, which goes down on Saturday, will have a strong presence in the title picture following Topuria vs. Holloway.
Number eight-ranked Aljamain Sterling and number six-ranked Movsar Evloev aren't far from being in the title shot conversation. With a win at UFC 307, either fighter could be lined up for a number-one contender bout in early 2025.
There's also a possibility that the winner of Evloev vs. Sterling will need two more wins before a title shot following UFC 307. The circumstances are expected to change depending on how impressive they look in their upcoming meeting.
