In Photos: Ciryl Gane looks voguish as he presents title belt at ARES FC 24
Ciryl Gane supported the growth of MMA in France by making an appearance at a recent ARES FC event.
In August 2019, Gane made his UFC debut with a professional MMA record of 3-0. Since then, the 34-year-old has solidified himself as one of the best heavyweights on the planet, winning nine of his 11 octagon appearances.
Two of Gane's last three fights were main events in France, contributing to the rapid growth of the country's MMA presence. The former interim UFC heavyweight champion also continues to give back to the French MMA community, including a recent appearance at ARES FC 24 on Thursday, Sept. 5.
The ARES FC 24 featured Felix Klinkhammer and Jefferson Goncalves fighting for the promotion's vacant welterweight title. All five rounds were needed before Klinkhammer emerged victorious by unanimous decision.
Following the official result, Gane entered the cage and wrapped the title around Klinkhammer's waist. Photos from the UFC heavyweight's appearance at ARES FC 24 were posted on his Instagram, which can be seen below:
Ciryl Gane's French representation has helped several fighters receive added attention in the UFC, including Benoit Saint-Denis and Manon Fiorot. The electric atmosphere provided by the French crowd during UFC events has also made the country a consistent destination for fight nights moving forward.
Ciryl Gane looks to take out Alexander Volkov in clash between top-ranked heavyweights
Ciryl Gane last fought in September 2023, defeating Serghei Spivac by second-round knockout. The number two-ranked UFC heavyweight now looks to strengthen his presence in the title picture in his upcoming fight.
On Oct. 26, Gane will face number three-ranked Alexander Volkov in a rematch during the UFC 308 main card, which goes down inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Heading into the intriguing striking battle, Volkov has won four consecutive fights against ranked opponents, including three inside the distance.
In June 2021, Gane outstruck Volkov to secure a unanimous decision in a fight night main event inside the APEX.
Gane vs Volkov would typically have higher stakes if the UFC heavyweight division wasn't backed up. Jon Jones is expected to defend his title against Stipe Miocic later this year, while interim champion Tom Aspinall waits for his opportunity to become the undisputed king.
Therefore, the winner of Gane and Volkov will likely need another win before fighting for UFC gold.
