The fighter looks to continue honing his skills and seek a defined direction after a pair of losses in 205-pound championship bids bookended a win at UFC 300. The losses both came to current light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira at UFC 295 and UFC 303, respectively, while the victory in between those outings transpired in April against ranked contender Aleksandar Rakic.
Jiri Prochazka: Missions accomplished and missions still to come
Jiri Prochazka is still the number one ranked contender in the division and he is still very much in the game at light heavyweight. Prochazka began his recent Instagram post by mentioning that he had accomplished a mission but his mission to become a two-time titleholder at 205 pounds in the UFC is still ongoing.
The former Rizin light heavyweight champion burst onto the scene within the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a hotly discussed signing. Prochazka would climb to the top of the mountain within three fights inside the octagon.
The 31-year-old secured finishes over acclaimed names in the weight category like Volkan Oezdemir, Dominick Reyes, and Glover Teixeira. The final victory in that stretch came by way of submission in the final round of his championship clash at UFC 275 following a pair of second-round finishes via strikes over Oezdemir and Reyes to punch his ticket to that title shot.
The native of the Czech Republic has endeared himself to fans through his exciting style, quirky demeanor, and embodiment of the samurai spirit. Prochazka's next fight date is unknown as of this writing but the MMA world will presumably be fired up for it whenever it gets locked in.
