In Photos: Khabib Nurmagomedov shares exclusive training snaps ahead of Bellator San Diego feat. Usman Nurmagomedov and others
Khabib Nurmagomedov recently shared exclusive training photos ahead of tonight's Bellator Champions Series: San Diego event featuring two of his proteges. The former UFC lightweight champion appears to be getting back into cornering his teammates, which could be an advantage for them.
Tonight's event takes place at the Pechanga Arena and will see two of 'The Eagle's pupils competing on the card. Imamshafi Aliev takes on Jordan Newman to close the prelims, while the UFC Hall of Famer's cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov defends his Bellator lightweight championship against Alexandr Shabliy in the main event. The lightweight title bout was originally set for the finals of the promotion's lightweight Grand Prix, but it appears as though PFL scrapped that after acquiring them last year.
'The Eagle' took to his Instagram account to post a series of photos, which features his cousin, Usman as well as behind-the-scenes snaps of Aliev's weight-cut. Nurmagomedov mentioned that his fighters are ready to showcase their skills and come out of Bellator Champions Series: San Diego with a win. He wrote:
"We are ready for #BellatorSanDiego...There will be a very interesting and high-class confrontation of styles, characters and skills. Don't miss out." [Translation]

In addition to the exclusive training snaps he shared ahead of tonight's Bellator Champions Series: San Diego, Khabib Nurmagomedov also shared snaps from his pupils' training camp.
Both Imamshafi Aliev and Usman Nurmagomedov spent four weeks training at AKA in preparation for their respective bouts. Training at AKA in San Jose, California could be helpful as they didn't have to travel too far and adapt to different time zones when they compete in San Diego, California.
The UFC Hall of Famer mentioned that both competitors have put in the work and is confident that they will both be victorious. He wrote:
"And so the four-week training in the AKA is over...@imamshafi_aliev and @usman_nurmagomedov will show what they have been preparing for a long time...There will be sparks in San Diego on Saturday."
