In Photos: Khabib Nurmagomedov shares lively snaps from Cain Velasquez's barbecue
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Cain Velasquez recently showcased a different side of their relationship by engaging in outdoor cooking with fellow mixed martial artists.
The former UFC lightweight champion captioned his Instagram photo dump with the text "Cain's BBQ," per Google Translate. Velasquez, a former UFC heavyweight champion, has a storied friendship with Khabib. The pair made American Kickboxing Academy one of the biggest gyms in the sport.
The camp also included UFC titleholders Luke Rockhold and Daniel Cormier. The gym members developed tight bonds that transcended the sport.
With those bonds on display recently, the former AKA compatriots enjoyed fun in the sun and great food.

Khabib Nurmagomedov impersonating Salt Bae and their previous beef
In one of his BBQ photos, Khabib Nurmagomedov struck the classic pose of internet character Salt Bae. It was playful, but the figure in question previously called out Khabib. Nusret 'Salt Bae' Gokce went viral for his distinct salt sprinkling technique before calling out the dominant Dagestani for a fight.
The 35-year-old was in the Turkish chef's crosshairs and mentioned this when speaking with RT News in 2019. Salt Bae cavorted with celebrities then and was at the height of his notoriety. He told the news outlet that sport was a big part of his daily life beyond being a chef.
Salt Bae indicated a love for mixed martial arts and said he wanted to fight the toughest, specifically naming Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
At the time, both men had scheduled fights. Khabib was signed for an April 2020 matchup with Tony Ferguson. McGregor was in line for his January 2020 fight with Donald Cerrone, which he won in less than a minute.
McGregor seems to be on good terms with Salt Bae, but there is no word regarding his relationship with Nurmagomeov. Meanwhile, the living meme has yet to compete in mixed martial arts.
