In Photos: Max Holloway embraces his inner Eminem during training for Ilia Topuria clash
Max Holloway recently shared a host of snaps from an intense fight camp training session, as he prepares for his upcoming featherweight title bout against Ilia Topuria.
Holloway and Topuria are set to headline the upcoming UFC 308 pay-per-view, which takes place on Oct. 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
'Blessed' is looking to reclaim the title he lost to Volkanovski in 2019, coming up short on three occasions against the Australian. The Hawaii native has looked back to his best in recent years, picking up three consecutive wins since April 2023.
Of those victories, the most impressive was certainly Holloway's performance against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, which saw him become the BMF champion. Stepping up to lightweight, the 32-year-old showed no signs of being the naturally lighter opponent as he dominated 'The Highlight' across five rounds before knocking him out cold in the final second.
As Max Holloway understandly heads into his bout with Ilia Topuria full of confidence, he recently shared an update about his preparations with a series of photographs on Instagram.
Holloway also captioned the post with a reference to Eminem's song 'Till I Collapse', released in 2002. He wrote:
"Till I collapse"
The first photograph shows Holloway concentrating as he hits a punching bag at full force:
The second photo sees 'Blessed' still hitting the same bag, but this time landing an explosive combination:
The third and final snap shows Holloway sitting down and taking a breather, with his glove covered in sweat from the intense training:
Jorge Mavidal wants to face Max Holloway in a BMF title bout
Jorge Masvidal recently praised BMF champion Max Holloway for being one of his favorite fighters, as well as expressed an interest in facing him in the future.
Masvidal recently took part in an interview with MMA Fighting, during which he discussed the BMF champ and his own plans for a UFC return. According to 'Gamebred', while he doesn't have a specific opponent in mind, it would be an honor if he were able to share the octagon with Holloway. He said:
"Man, I'm the biggest Max Holloway fan, possibly. I love this guy. I love how he fights. I love his style. I love how he carries himself outside of the ring. He's one of my favorite all-time fighters. So, man, it would be an honor to get Max. I mean, from the bottom of my heart, [it would] be an honor if we throw down, we put on a f*cking show. One of them fights for all the generations. All the lifetimes."
