In Photos: Megan Olivi celebrates 9th wedding anniversary with husband Joseph Benavidez with throwback snaps from 2015
Popular MMA reporter and host of UFC Ultimate Insider Megan Olivi celebrates her ninth wedding anniversary with former UFC flyweight title challenger Joseph Benavidez. Olivi and Benavidez form one of the most recognizable couples in MMA today, with both excelling in separate areas of the industry.
In commemoration of their anniversary, Olivi posted photos of them on Instagram.
Sharing the pictures, Olivi captioned the post:
"9 years have flown by in the blink of an eye. I thank God every single day for you @joejitsu . You’re really a dream come true ❤️ love you forever"
Benavidez has had a storied career that spanned 15 years. He fought for the UFC flyweight title multiple times and helped bring the division to relevancy. Although he's never won gold, Benavidez is considered a legend in the sport and is pivotal in the rise of the lower weight classes in mainstream consciousness.
Through the ups and the downs, Olivi has been on his side every step of the way. Their bond was made stronger by the challenges they willingly worked through - together.
Megan Olivi helps husband Joseph Benavidez stay sober
Speaking of working through struggles together, one of the challenges Megan OIivi supports Joseph Benavidez in his journey of staying sober. Alcohol addiction has been known to destroy lives, relationships, families, and marriages. In a revealing Instagram post uploaded last year, Olivi opened up about staying away from the bottle and supporting her husband in the same journey as well:
"I know I’m not the only one… As someone who’s been sober for over a decade to support her sober spouse [18 years for Joey in June!] in no way am I making light of the real terrors and struggles of addiction. This is just a fun bit of Britney audio. But if you feel like you may be struggling, please never wait or feel ashamed to reach out to friends, family or any of the tremendous organizations that exist to help those who need it."
At the time of this writing, Benavidez would be 19 years sober and counting. Addiction is quite the mountain to climb but with a relationship as healthy and thriving as Olivi and Benavidez's, nothing is too steep of a climb to overcome. So long as you do it with someone who loves you.
