In Photos: Ronda Rousey offers sneak peek into her new graphic novel 'Expecting the Unexpected' in collaboration with former Marvel exec

Add authoring a graphic comic to the list of her diverse career portfolio that former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has ventured into. Rousey recently posted several pictures from the launch during San Diego Comic-Con weekend along with sneak peeks of the graphic novel.

Rousey teamed up with award-winning artist Mike Deodato, Jr., who has worked in blockbuster projects like Avengers, and The Flash. The backdrop of the story follows Rousey, a newly pregnant mom with a bounty on her head as she fights off assassins.

The book is edited by Axel Alonso, AWA Chief Creative Officer and former Editor-and-Chief at Marvel, with artwork by Eisner and Ringo Award-winning comic book artist, Deodato, Jr. The graphic novel builds on Rousey's extraordinary career spanning several combat sports ventures and pairs it with Deodato’s martial arts background to create a compelling action-packed story.

Rousey took to Instagram to announce the Kickstarter that offers fans a chance to receive a hardcover version of their choice, merchandise, and a ticket to an exclusive Zoom Roundtable. She captioned the post:

"AAHHH!!! Our @kickstarter is live! My inner nerd is screaming! @davebautista just hosted our Comicon panel for the graphic novel I wrote #ExpectingTheUnexpected drawn by Eisner winner @mikedeodato and edited by former Marvel editor in chief now head of @awastudiosofficial Axel Alonso! Thank you @davebautista for carving out the time and volunteering to star in the film adaptation without even reading it."

According to the description, the protagonist of the story, “Mom," with a fake baby bump filled with guns, has "built a reputation as one of the deadliest hit-women on the planet." The character encounters a critical turning point, compelled to make a decisive choice of being associated with a potential target, a top-ranked assassin himself.

Ronda Rousey confirms that she's pregnant with second child

Former UFC and WWE superstar Ronda Rousey announced at the launch of her book that she's pregnant with her second child.

Ronda and her husband, former UFC heavyweight contender Travis Browne, welcomed their first child, La'akea Makalapuaokalanipo, in September 2021. Confirming the rumors that she's pregnant again at the San Diego Comic-Con weekend, she said:

"Did anyone notice that I'm very pregnant right now? Yeah, I'm just as pregnant as 'Mom' is in the majority of the comic." [H/t: TMZ Sports]
