Injured Stamp Fairtex reveals the hardest part about her rehab process from knee surgery
Stamp Fairtex's road to recovery appears to be one of the toughest things she's ever experienced. The atomweight MMA queen sustained a serious knee injury while training for her scheduled title defense at ONE 167 last June.
Fairtex was also set to feature as the main attraction against ONE women's strawweight MMA world champion 'The Panda' Xiong Jing Nan, in a strawweight world title tilt at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.
Although Stamp is in good health and in high spirits, starting from zero has been the hardest part of her recovery.
Speaking to ONE this week, she provided the following update:
"Rebuilding the lost muscles on my leg is the toughest part. I have to recover as much muscle as I can after the surgery."
Stamp continues to hold the 115-pound belt, after claiming it against South Korea's Ham Seo Hee in knockout fashion at ONE Fight Night 14 last September.
However, with the division at a standstill, there's been a push for an interim world title fight from some of the world's top atomweight contenders.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
"We can't WAIT to see Stamp back in action" - ONE Championship wishes Stamp Fairtex a speedy recovery as she works to get herself back into the foray as soon as possible
ONE Championship joined in with the fans this month to send Stamp Fairtex a strong message of support as she rallies her way back into the ONE Circle.
As mentioned above, Stamp last fought in September 2023. She had two potential fights headed in her direction. One with Xiong Jing Nan and the other with the Phillippines' Denice 'The Menace' Zamboanga, for her first world title defense.
With these fights still pending, Stamp is working very hard to get back into shape as soon as she can.
This month, ONE Championship offered Stamp a message of support on Instagram, to motivate her on this difficult journey:
"One day a time. We can't WAIT to see Stamp back in action as she continues her journey towards full recovery!"
