Insane stats show how Jon Jones stands head and shoulders above existing heavyweight GOATs

Jon Jones is considered by most fans to be one of the greatest fighters of all time. Jones holds multiple records in the UFC, which includes the most title defenses, most wins and longest win streak in the light heavyweight division.

'Bones' is set to put an end to his three-year hiatus this weekend as he takes on Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Their bout is Jones' debut at heavyweight and they will compete against one another for the vacant 265-pound strap. The American is looking to cement himself as the greatest fighter in history and believes conquering the heavyweight division will bring him a step closer to achieving that.

Recently, a new MMA stat has emerged that suggests that Jones may be closer to GOAT status than he gives himself credit for.

First posted on Twitter by @OvinVithanage, Jon Jones' UFC career at 30 years old has been compared to some of the greatest heavyweights in the promotion's history when they were that age:

"By the time they turned 30, Jon Jones had 10 UFC title defenses. Ciryl Gane was 3-0 in the UFC. Francis Ngannou was 3-0 in the UFC. Stipe Miocic was 3-0 in the UFC. DC [Daniel Cormier] wasn't a pro MMA fighter."

Jon Jones on whether or not a win over Ciryl Gane will put him back at the No.1 spot in the P4P rankings

In an interview with Fox Sports Australia earlier this week, Jon Jones gave his take on the UFC's men's pound-for-pound rankings.

'Bones' is currently No.10 on the list, which is topped by Alexander Volkanovski. The 35-year-old fighter was asked if he thought a victory over Ciryl Gane would catapult him back to the top spot.

According to Jones, 'The Great' is more than deserving of his spot at No.1. The former light heavyweight champion then stated that he's vying to become the greatest fighter of all time, which is more important to him than the pound-for-pound rankings:

"I think it's the guys who have been fighting. I think Alex, Islam, these are the guys who have been fighting. I haven't been competing, they deserve to be the top fighters on the planet... I'm trying to fight to be the best fighter ever, that's two different things. When it comes to right now and who looks the best, I haven't competed yet so how could I have a problem with these guys being the top fighters on the planet."
