Is MMA woke now? UFC’s Michael Bisping claims people are not allowed to have an opinion anymore
Michael Bisping has responded to fans accusing him of biased commentary.
Nearly every UFC commentator has been accused of being biased, and Bisping is currently dealing with those accusations. A day after UFC Santonio, ‘The Count’ has been pleading his case on Twitter after the former UFC middleweight champion responded to a deleted tweet, a fan had this to say under his post:
“F***ck. Now this is gonna be a thing for the next 10 years. People act like the announcers have any input on who wins and loses. Gawd d*mn Cheeto fingered r*jects in their moms basements found something else to get off on.”
“Now announcing will go like this -Nice jab by Chito but Sandhagen’s face nicely absorbed it. Great work by both-…….wokeness finally made its way into mma.”
Bisping seemed happy that someone understood his point of view. He replied to the fan with a sarcastic comment that claimed MMA has become “woke”:
“Come on. You know very well you aren’t allowed an opinion theses days. It might offend 99.9% of twitter.”
There is a running narrative about Michael Bisping being biased. Justin Gaethje made headlines last week when he said ‘The Count’ was overly supportive of Leon Edwards over Kamaru Usman in the UFC 286 main event. Fans are now saying the former UFC middleweight champion did the same thing for the UFC San Antonio main event.
Fans ridicule Michael Bisping for allegedly being biased during Cory Sandhagen vs. Marlon Vera
On March 25, Cory Sandhagen secured a decisive win against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, while Michael Bisping served as a commentator. Some fans thought he was biased towards Vera, his friend and training partner. After Bisping accused Twitter of being “woke,” fans ridiculed him in the comment section, including some saying:
“It’s okay to say “ I may not have called that one down the middle. I apologize, Chito is my teammate and it was unintentional.” Nobody would be mad at ya!! We love ya man”
“You tried your best to be unbiased when your guy was losing but it was still chito this chito that. Excuse after excuse. It was like comedy! Please just sit out the next one. DC too”
“Bro you're obviously bothered by the way people are judging your bias commentary from last night. Go back and listen. Just do better, and I am a Bisping/Chito fan! That was hard to listen to tho, and I watch every card”
“Why didn’t you acknowledge chito hitting corey with illegal up kicks or putting his fingers in coreys gloves Michael ?”
This likely won’t be the last time Michael Bisping is accused of biased commentary. Daniel Cormier receives the same backlash every time he commentates a fight with an American Kickboxing Academy fighter. Regardless of what the UFC commentators say, there will always be someone to accuse them of favoring one side.
