Israel Adesanya laughs off Paulo Costa "flirting" with him over "UFC fighters on female version"
Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa appear to have moved on from their beef in 2020, with 'The Last Stylebender' recently admitting that he follows the Brazilian on Twitter.
'Borrachinha' has taken it upon himself to become the newest MMA troll, posting a slew of MMA-related memes over the past year. Most recently, Costa posted a photo of 12 male UFC fighters in their 'female versions'.
The likes of Dan Hooker and Michael Chandler all appeared in the photo, sporting long hair and feminized features. Adesanya's picture was included too. However, his image was unedited.
'The Last Stylebender' saw Costa's provocative tweet, but replied in a light-hearted manner and laughed off the meme.
Israel Adesanya tweeted this:
"Lol this guy flirting with me again. Don't tempt me with a good time!"
Paulo Costa and Israel Adesanya faced off in 2020 at UFC 253. 'The Last Stylebender' won the fight via second-round TKO, but appears to be interested in a 'second date' with the Brazilian should he continue to "flirt" with him.
Chael Sonnen claims that Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira will meet at least one more time
Israel Adesanya was defeated for the first time at 185 pounds when he faced Alex Pereira at UFC 281. 'Poatan' snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, stopping Adesanya on the feet with mere minutes remaining in round five.
'The Last Stylebender' had reigned supreme over the UFC middleweight division since 2019 and defeated every contender the promotion put in front of him. With Adesanya being arguably the greatest UFC champion over recent years, an automatic rematch with Pereira has been spoken about.
Many feel that the former 185-pound king deserves a rematch based on his reign as champion. According to Chael Sonnen, if Adesanya were to defeat 'Poatan' in their hypothetical rematch, the pair could face off once more after that.
Whilst discussing the possible matchup in a recent YouTube video, Sonnen said the following:
"I am not done over here discussing on a routine basis, Adesanya and Pereira, because they aren't done fighting. They're not even done fighting for the championship. Those two are going to meet again, and by goodness if Adesanya beats him they are probably going to meet again."
Watch the video below:
Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira have now fought three times across kickboxing and MMA. 'Poatan' boats a 3-0 record over 'The Last Stylebender', but given that only one of those fights has taken place in MMA, Sonnen's prediction for a possible trilogy in MMA could be accurate.
