Israel Adesanya notes down incredible spinning head kick technique while gearing up for potential Alex Pereira rematch
Israel Adesanya suffered the first setback of his career at middleweight when he lost to Alex Pereira at UFC 281. It was his first loss in the division since his mixed martial arts debut and also spelled the end of his three-year reign as the champion.
Adesanya's performance in the UFC 281 main event through four rounds before the fifth-round TKO by Pereira would have secured him a sixth straight title defense. His dominance up to this point, however, warrants an immediate rematch and the UFC has indicated that they will not be averse to it.
'Izzy' has mentioned his plans for a comeback multiple times in the aftermath of the cross-promotion trilogy match. However, his most recent loss also marked Adesanya's third straight loss to 'Poatan' in three fights across kickboxing and mixed martial arts. The former champion will have to rethink his approach to counter such a familiar yet imposing foe.
Israel Adesanya took to Twitter to quote a video of an 'unbelievable spinning kick' with a memo emoji signifying him taking notes and implying perhaps a new addition to his arsenal.

The kick can be credited to Karate black belt Sacha Decosterd, who practices the Kyokushin style of Karate. The kick involved him spinning, feigning a back kick, and then reversing it to a frontal face kick incredibly fast.

Israel Adesanya's coach Eugene Bareman previews preparation for a rematch with Alex Pereira
Israel Adesanya's long-time coach Eugene Bareman, who is integral to his preparations and mirrors a similar assured approach to the fight game, is back in the gym alongside 'Izzy'.
Bareman spoke in an interview with Submission Radio where he outlined the camp's mindset and game plan. He said:
“I mean, like I said, we don’t have to extensively reinvent the wheel. In my opinion, we have to just tweak a few things and we can turn that fight around. That’s what it more comes down to, is how much time do we need to train to kind of make the changes and the tweaks that we need to turn this fight around. And I just don’t anticipate we need to do a hell of a lot. We just have to change a couple of tactics."
Bareman also mentioned coming close to victory at UFC 281 against Alex Pereira:
"We’re quietly confident. You gotta understand, we were winning that fight relatively comfortably. We felt we were taking the rounds. But not comfortable enough – when you’re fighting somebody like that, who’s gameplan appears to be, it’s not a guy who builds his gameplan around accumulation of damage."
