Israel Adesanya seemingly open to trying powerful psychedelic drug Ayahuasca when he is ready
Israel Adesanya has been unabashedly open about using psychedelic substances in the past. Even now, the former UFC middleweight champion seemingly harbors a passion for kaleidoscopic drugs.
Responding to a recent Q&A on Instagram, Adesanya hinted that he would be open to trying the powerful psychedelic drug Ayahuasca when he is ready. A fan asked 'The Last Stylebender':
"Would you try ayahuasca?"
The former UFC middleweight champ wrote:
"Yes. When the student is ready, the Master appears."
Ayahuasca is an entheogenic and psychoactive plant-based drug that is indigenous to South America. Known by various names throughout the region, evidence of its use for ceremonial purposes dates back 1000 years.
While it was originally restricted to shamans, Ayahuasca has now made its way into the mainstream and is widely used for recreational purposes.
Former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez admittedly resolved a lot of issues after using the drug. While Velasquez also recommended it to his friend and teammate Daniel Cormier, 'DC' is yet to give it a shot.

Israel Adesanya claims to have taken magic mushrooms before the Paulo Costa fight
Israel Adesanya shut down his detractors with a stellar KO win over Paulo Costa at UFC 253, which was his second middleweight title defense. The Nigeria-born Kiwi later revealed that he had taken hallucinogens just three weeks prior to the fight.
The former UFC middleweight champ admitted to the use of psilocybin, popularly known as magic mushrooms, which is a psychedelic drug. Adesanya also claimed that psychedelic substances helped him deal with a lot of childhood trauma. The Kiwi said on a previous episode of the Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson podcast:
"The last time I had mushrooms, actually, was before the Costa fight. This was like maybe three weeks before the fight... So we’re quarantined, right? We’re quarantined in the gym because we were in lockdown. So me and my team, we locked up in the gym and we were living in the gym for that whole camp. One day, it was a Sunday, we did our spider session – this was the hardest workout of the week, it simulates the fight. After that, me [my companions] decide, ‘Let’s go on a bike ride.’ And then we just did some mushrooms and it was one of the best f***ing days ever.”
