Israel Adesanya took revenge on Alex Pereira's son in hilarious UFC 287 moment
The highly anticipated Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira 2 went down this past weekend with 'The Last Stylebender' having the last laugh over his long-time rival 'Poatan'.
The two have had arguably one of the most storied rivalries the sport has ever seen. Having lost to Alex Pereira three times, twice in kickboxing, and once in MMA, Adesanya needed an emphatic victory to close the chapter for good.
'The Last Stylebender' did exactly that as he knocked out Alex Periera in the second round of their UFC 287 bout.
However, Israel Adesanya didn't just have to take revenge on Alex Pereira, he wanted to settle the score with the Brazilian's son as well. Back when 'The Last Stylebender' was knocked out by 'Poatan' in their kickboxing rematch, Pereira's son entered the ring and acted dead in front of Adesanya in an attempt to taunt him.
Now, after knocking out Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya pointed over to his son in the crowd and fell dead, returning the insult from the Brazilian's son.
Watch the video below:
Speaking about the same during the post-fight press conference, Adesanya had this to say:
“I’m petty, bro, I remember the first time [Pereira] knocked me out in Brazil, and his son came into the ring and then started to lie dead next to me, and I’m like, ‘you f**kling little asshole. I’ll whoop your a** if your dad don’t do it for you'." [3:37 onwards]
Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira 2: Who will 'The Last Stylebender' fight next?
Following an emphatic win over Alex Pereira, Adesanya re-established himself as the best middleweight in the world. A lot has been said about his next potential opponent since then and while the UFC middleweight champion did not call out anybody, a number of fighters put their names forward for a potential shot at middleweight gold.
UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev called out Israel Adesanya on Twitter and urged Dana White to make the fight happen. He said:
"Now it's my time. Let's go make it happen @danawhite."
Marvin Vettori, who has faced Adesanya in the octagon twice, also took a moment to congratulate 'The Last Stylebender' while suggesting the possibility of a trilogy.
"Good game @stylebender. Down the road will do it a third time."
Another former opponent in the form of Jan Blachowicz also called out Adesanya. Blachowicz was the first person to defeat Adesanya in an MMA fight when the latter moved up to the light-heavyweight division. He said:
"Congratulations on a successful rematch, @stylebender. If you want to try another one, you know where to find me. This time at middleweight for your belt. #UFC287"
