"It is a big opportunity" - Mayssa Bastos 'super excited' for chance to fight for ONE gold at ONE Fight Night 24
Mayssa Bastos is chomping at the bit for the massive opportunity that awaits her at ONE Fight Night 24.
That evening, the Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy representative finds herself in the biggest fight of her promotional campaign as she squares off against Danielle Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship.
With another chance to display her championship-winning arsenal on the grandest stage of combat sports, the 26-year-old is fired up to make the most of her opportunity inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, August 2.
Mayssa Bastos weighed in on her world title contest against Kelly during a recent exchange with Sportskeeda MMA, saying:
"I'm super excited, like I'm super happy with the opportunity, too. It is a big opportunity."
Of course, this isn't anything new for the California-based warrior.
Throughout her career, the Brazilian has bested the best in her class on her way to nine IBJJF world championships in gi and no-gi. At the same time, Bastos has won gold in all major competitions that she has competed in, as well as multiple Pan American, Brazilian National, and European Championship.
Despite all that she's achieved, the ground game wizard has been eager to add the promotion's 26 pounds of gold to her trophy cabinet. And now, she finds herself just one win away from achieving that feat.
