“It bothers me” - Filipino star Danny Kingad admits inability to finish his opponents has held him back

Former ONE flyweight MMA world title challenger Danny Kingad understands that at the end of the day, fans want to see fighters who go out of their way to finish fights.

While 'The King' has seen his hand raised multiple times in the world's largest martial arts organization, he rues not getting more stoppage victories.

According to Kingad, his inability to take the judges out of the equation has somehow held him back.

Now with the flyweight MMA division open for the taking following Demetrious Johnson's retirement, Kingad believes he's the right guy to assume the vacant throne.

The Filipino firecracker hopes to cement his claim with a decisive win over former champion Adriano Moraes at ONE 169.

Danny Kingad shared in a ONE Championship interview ahead of his return on Nov. 8 at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium:

“It’s in my mind now to start finishing fights. In each fight that I don’t finish my opponent, it bothers me."

Kingad, who comes from a Wushu background, certainly has the power and crisp technique to handle business on the feet. His grappling has also improved drastically in recent years.

We'll soon see if the Lions Nation MMA athlete can score that coveted finish at ONE 169. The full event will air live in US Primetime free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Danny Kingad says Adriano Moraes will face a different fighter this time around

The last time Danny Kingad shared the Circle with Moraes, he found himself succumbing to the Brazilian's vice grip and got tapped out in one round.

To be fair, 'The King' was still just finding his way into MMA at the time and fought 'Mikinho' on short notice back in 2017.

Now stronger and much wiser, Kingad vows to turn the tables around and get even with his tormentor.

The third-ranked flyweight MMA contender told Philstar:

"Through the years, the experience that I've garnered, the training that I've had, it's going to be entirely different this time."
