“It brings a side out of you” - Eddie Abasolo grateful for the chance to test himself against iconic fighter Sitthichai

Eddie Abasolo reflected on his experience fighting the well-respected Sitthichai.

Abasolo started his ONE Championship tenure against Liam Nolan (unanimous decision loss) and Niclas Larsen (second-round knockout win). In June 2023, the American's third promotional appearance featured arguably the toughest challenge of his fighting career, as he faced Sitthichai at ONE Friday Fights 22.

Abasolo and Sitthichai battled for three rounds, with the latter emerging victorious by unanimous decision. Despite suffering a loss, 'Silky Smooth' gained invaluable experience at ONE Friday Fights 22, which will benefit him moving forward.

Abasolo recently did an interview with Cageside Press and looked back on his fight with Sitthichai by saying:

"Sitthichai, he brought stuff out of me that I didn’t see. That’s why I love hard competition, because it brings a side out of you. You need to be put in a situation to have something brought out of you. A hard situation, just to see what I’m capable of whenever the pressure is on."

Eddie Abasolo has fought once since losing against Sitthichai. In February, the 38-year-old fought Luke Lessei in an All-American Muay Thai battle at ONE Fight Night 19. Lessei secured the split decision win that night, but both fighters earned respect for showcasing an entertaining war.

Eddie Abasolo plans to showcase another entertaining performance at ONE 169

On November 8, Eddie Abasolo has an opportunity to end his two-fight skid at ONE 169. The featherweight Muay Thai contender has been matched up against Mohamed Younes Rabah, who's fought twice in ONE Championship.

Rabah's promotional appearances were against Saemapetch Fairtex, each fighter winning a first-round knockout. The 27-year-old now looks to begin a new chapter in his fighting career by making a statement against Abasolo.

The winner between Abasolo and Rabah would strengthen their presence in the ONE featherweight Muay Thai title picture.

ONE 169 goes down inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Next Friday's event featuring three world title fights can be seen live and for free by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
