"It was f***ing tight" - Demetrious Johnson says the Ruotolo twins' infamous death squeeze is the real deal
MMA legend Demetrious Johnson has practically been around the highest levels of the sport and believes he has virtually seen it all.
Then again, 'Mighty Mouse' recently admittedly didn't know what he was getting into when he sparred with ONE submission grappling world champions Kade and Tye Ruotolo.
The reigning ONE flyweight MMA world champion bonded with BJJ's most prolific twins before Kade Ruotolo's MMA debut last June.
With Demetrious Johnson all-in on grappling nowadays, he couldn't resist the chance to share the mats with two of the brightest stars in the game today.
A true student of the game, 'DJ' knew the brothers were known for the incredible torque in their signature moves, particularly the D'Arce and the buggy choke.
The MMA GOAT candidate relived that experience during an appearance on the JAXXON Podcast:
"You see them always tapping people with the D'Arce or buggy choke. I'm like, 'What is this s**t? They ain't gonna tap me with a f***ing D'Arce.' And they f***ing tapped me. It was f***ing tight. Even the squeeze, they haven't even squeezed yet, and I'm like, 'Yep, let's not go that f***ing route'. I'll let my black a** out."

Demetrious Johnson says Kade Ruotolo taught him a nifty trick to tighten his chokes
Kade Ruotolo also appeared on Demetrious Johnson's MightyCast and talked about all things martial arts. 'Mighty Mouse' revealed that the youngest ADCC world champion even taught him to squeeze using his trapezius muscle to tighten his chokeholds. Ruotolo said:
"A lot of people squeeze with their arms and they forget [to use] their back and how much force they can get from there."
Meanwhile, Kade Ruotolo will return to action at ONE 168: Denver on September 6, where he'll defend his lightweight submission grappling crown in a super fight with Mikey Musumeci at Ball Arena.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available at Ticketmaster.
