“It lasted a while” - Jonathan Haggerty admits sting from losing belt to Superlek lingered for quite sometime

Reigning ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion and former bantamweight Muay Thai king 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom appears to be in good spirits, despite suffering a harrowing knockout defeat to Thai rival 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 last month.

Haggerty was stopped by a Superlek elbow just 49 seconds into their flyweight MMA world title rematch at ONE 168: Denver, which took place at the Mile High City's Ball Arena in early September.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports MMA Club podcast, Haggerty admitted that he needed some time to mentally process his latest setback.

'The General' stated:

"It lasted a while, maybe I’d say about three or four days. But like I said, I’ve got a good few people around me as a family out there and I was just going out after the fight and enjoying myself."

Needless to say, fans expect Haggerty to be back, and this is not the last we have seen of 'The General'.

In fact, the fierce Englishman still has the bantamweight kickboxing belt to defend, which could be up next for the 27-year-old Londoner.

Jonathan Haggerty remains confident despite KO loss to Superlek: "I’m still a champ"

Former double champ 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty is quick to remind fans that he still has one 26-pound golden belt over his shoulders.

Despite his first-round knockout loss to 'The Kicking Machine' Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver, Haggerty is still currently the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion, and it seems he's leaning toward defending that belt first in his comeback fight.

'The General' told Sky Sports:

"I think we can still definitely get it. I’m still a champ. I’m still the kickboxing World Champion. So I still got one belt, I know I had two, but now I have one."
