"It'll be exciting for sure" - Superlek guarantees fireworks in first bantamweight Muay Thai title defense against Nico Carrillo
It certainly takes two to tango in the fight game, and Superlek Kiatmoo9 believes his next challenger Nico Carrillo will be down for an absolute firefight.
'The Kicking Machine' advised fans not to blink once he shares the Circle with 'King of the North' at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, 2025, at Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
After achieving his mission of becoming a two-weight and two-sport world champion, it's straight to business for Superlek who will defend his bantamweight Muay Thai crown for the first time.
The Thai megastar doesn't seem fazed one bit by the idea of facing one of the most feared knockout artists in the 145-pound division.
In fact, Superlek is beyond thrilled knowing he'll get another adversary who will bring the fight to him as soon as the bell rings.
The 28-year-old striker told Andrew Whitelaw of the South China Morning Post:
"I'd like all the fans to come and see this fight with Nico Carrillo, as it'll be exciting for sure."
Superlek is truly one of the most cerebral tacticians to ever compete in 'The Art of Eight Limbs'. His methodically devastating style was on full display against another formidable heavy hitter in the main event of the historic ONE 168: Denver last September.
The Kiatmoo9 Gym star only needed 49 seconds to dispatch Jonathan Haggerty and steal his 26 pounds of gold.
Superlek excited to face another monster in first title defense
Superlek has never been in an easy fight, and quite frankly, he wouldn't have it any other way.
'The Kicking Machine' always rises to the occasion. The better his opponent, the more motivated he is to prove his status as one of the pound-for-pound bests on the planet today.
In the same interview, the bantamweight Muay Thai and flyweight kickboxing champ said he plans to test just how good Nico Carrillo truly is.
“He is said to be the best in the division and I’m very excited to face him. I haven’t got a game plan yet, but it will be a great fight.”
