"It was a lot of weight off my shoulders" - Jonathan Haggerty recalls rewarding feeling of beating Joseph Lasiri in ONE debut
Back in January of 2019, Jonathan Haggerty competed under the ONE Championship banner for the very first time.
It would have been impossible at the time to predict what he would go on to achieve in the promotion.
As a former flyweight Muay Thai world champion, Haggerty is currently having great success in the bantamweight division where he is a two-sport champion.
In a recent YouTube video, 'The General' took a look back at his previous fights in the promotion to do some reflecting.
He, of course, went back to where it all started in the first month of 2019 at ONE: Eternal Glory.
Here he faced Joseph Lasiri and opened his account in the new promotion by getting his hand raised via unanimous decision.
Haggerty spoke in the video about how this was important for him because of the pressure he felt ahead of his debut:
"In the start of a career, you would want to get your hand raised in your debut. It was a lot of weight off my shoulders."

Jonathan Haggerty hasn't looked back since
A debut win over Joseph Lasiri would be the start of a very exciting chapter in the career and life of Jonathan Haggerty.
From this win alone, he went on to challenge the legendary Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in his next fight and pulled off the upset to become the flyweight Muay Thai world champion.
He's proven his ability to rise to the occasion but who knows where Haggerty would be today if he didn't secure the win over Lasiri in his introduction.
It set him on the path that he is still on today which now leads to Denver where he will compete in a huge title fight at ONE 168.
Putting his Muay Thai title on the line against Superlek, it is crazy to see how far he has come in such a short amount of time.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
