“It doesn't matter who” - Jarred Brooks is after the toughest tests in his career
Jarred Brooks is always looking for the biggest challenges, and he's ready to face one of the toughest contenders in Gustavo Balart at ONE Fight Night 24 on Friday, August 2.
'The Monkey God' has achieved a near perfect record in the world's largest martial arts organization, where his sole defeat occurred via disqualification in a rematch with the now ONE strawweight MMA world champion Joshua Pacio.
Now, Brooks wants to prove that it was a fluke by taking out Balart in their main event tilt inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, live in U.S. primetime.
He shared some of his perspectives with ONE Championship in an interview during the fight week of the Amazon card.
The former ONE world champion said:
"I think that it added a lot of interest in the fan's eyes. For me personally, I don't really give a crap on who they give me. It doesn't matter who, it could be Reece McLaren instead of Gustavo Balart. They switch it up."
He added:
"At this point, it shows what you're worth. And I've been working like I'm going to show you guys what I'm worth."

Gustavo Balart wants to break Jarred Brooks' wrestling style
When two wrestlers collide, fans can expect a gruelling and action-filled fight. This is what can be expected when former Cuban Olympian Gustavo Balart clashes with former ONE strawweight MMA king Jarred Brooks at ONE Fight Night 24.
Slated for the main event inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium, Balart is excited and ready to adapt with Brooks' American grappling style in their matchup.
He told ONE Championship:
"The difference between freestyle wrestling and Greco Roman wrestling is that in the latter, you cannot hit or grab anyone from the waist down. That is the main difference. I have always been a wrestler. True, I learned Greco Roman wrestling, but I can wrestle in any style. It is not difficult for me to adapt to the wrestling style here."
