"It was poor timing" - Ilias Ennahachi breaks down Jonathan Haggerty's fatal mistake that cost him the title versus Superlek
Ilias Ennahachi has accomplished some incredible things in his career but still has plenty more to give. The former ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion is no stranger to the elite level and has tested himself against some of the very best.
Arguably his most impressive win to date is when he defended his title against Superlek Kiatmoo9 in Feb. 2021. Since that date, the win has only aged even better after what 'The Kicking Machine' has been able to do over the past few years.
At ONE 168 on Sept. 6, Superlek became a two weight and two sport world champion after stopping Jonathan Haggerty in the opening minute of their main event clash at the Ball Arena.
Ennahachi broke this fight down during a recent interview with the South China Morning Post ahead of his return on Sept. 27:
"Yeah. I know Superlek can beat Haggerty because Muay Thai is very different from kickboxing. It is good that Haggerty was pushing the pressure, but it was poor timing of putting it on Superlek because he knows that Haggerty was gonna come in with the pressure. So he was waiting for this. He trained for this, and he knocked him out."

Ilias Ennahachi has elite level fights to deal with
Since their meeting in 2021, Ilias Ennahachi and Superlek have gone different ways but that doesn't mean that they won't meet again in the future.
For Ennahachi, his focus is on coming back with a big win when he faces former bantamweight kickboxing champion Hiroki Akimoto at ONE Friday Fights 81.
The bantamweight kickboxing division isn't something that 'The Kicking Machine' has set his sights on just yet but it certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility. Perhaps they're destined to run it back at some stage.
