“It really makes it all worth it” - Nico Carrillo thankful for Scottish fans who came to support him at Lumpinee
First-ranked ONE Championship bantamweight Muay Thai contender 'King of the North' Nico Carrillo of the United Kingdom was absolutely shocked with the amount of cheers he got at Lumpinee Stadium.
But more than the Thai fans whose hearts he has won over with his action-packed performances, Carrillo says there was a large contingent of Scottish fans in attendance as well.
Carrillo took care of business last weekend at ONE Fight Night 23 on Prime Video, delivering a second-round technical knockout victory over No.4-ranked Saemapetch Fairtex at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking to veteran ONE Championship broadcast analyst Mitch 'The Dragon' Chilson in his post-fight interview, Carrillo thanked all the fans for the support.
'King of the North' said:
"First of all, I love Thailand. I love the Thai fans already but coming out to [Lumpinee Stadium] with my own people here, it just adds fuel. Man, this is just what dreams are truly made of. It really makes it all worth it."
With the victory, Carrillo has cemented his spot as the next world title challenger, and is looking to face Jonathan Haggerty for the bantamweight Muay Thai throne.
If you missed any of the action, ONE Fight Night 23 is available via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
