"It's absolutely amazing" - Jacob Smith thrilled to witness British athletes leave their mark in ONE Championship
Jacob Smith doesn't need any additional motivation coming into his next fight, which will likely be the biggest of his career.
The British striking specialist is fired up and focused ahead of his high-stakes rematch at ONE 169 on Nov. 8. On his return to Bangkok's iconic Lumpinee Stadium, Smith will challenge Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship.
Revenge after what happened in their first meeting and becoming the world champion are his primary focuses right now. But, of course, he's proud to be representing his country on the global stage.
Smith, along with the likes of Jonathan Haggerty and Liam Harrison, has done a great job of representing British striking, and we're starting to see more and more fighters coming through from this background.
Just recently, George Jarvis won himself a ONE Championship contract following his incredible performances on the ONE Friday Fights series.
In a recent interview with SCMP MMA, Jacob Smith spoke about how great it is to see the evolution in the competitors that come from a similar background:
"It's absolutely amazing. The fighters we have now in ONE Championship and the fighters that we have now that are fighting on ONE Lumpinee are probably knocking on the door to get a contract also."

Jacob Smith aims to make history on Nov. 8
If Jacob Smith is able to avenge his loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon this week at ONE 169, it will go down as one of the biggest wins by a British striker ever.
Jonathan Haggerty has already shared the ring with the Thai superstar two times and came up short in both of them. For Smith, he's confident that he will face the best version of 'The Iron Man' on Nov. 8 inside the 'Mecca of Muay Thai'.
He wouldn't want it any other way and this only gives him more energy and fire to deliver the best performance of his career against the world champion.
ONE 169 will be available to active Amazon Prime Video subscribers in North America.
