“It’s amazing for the UK” - Jacob Smith on potentially becoming a world champion with victory over Rodtang

ONE Championship flyweight Muay Thai world title contender Jacob Smith of the United Kingdom understands the magnitude of his upcoming showdown with divisional king 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon this weekend.

Not only is it the biggest fight of his professional career thus far, but a victory over a global icon like Rodtang would put the United Kingdom on the map for Smith.

The 32-year-old Bad Company / Thaifist representative told the South China Morning Post that he is taking this fight very seriously.

Smith said:

"It’s amazing for the UK, it’s amazing for the UK Muay Thai scene, but more importantly, it’s amazing for my family. That is what I’m fighting for. My family means the world to me so that’s what I’m fighting for and I couldn’t even explain what it will mean when it happens."

Smith is set to challenge Rodtang for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title.

The two lock horns in the co-main event of ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Prime Video, which broadcasts live in U.S. primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, Nov. 8.
