"It's all been about my dedication" - Tawanchai says rise to superstar status did not happen overnight

Combat sports athletes dedicate so many hours of their lives to becoming the best and not everyone makes it to the big leagues, but that was not the case for Tawanchai PK Saenchai.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, the reigning ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion, often described as a generational talent, shined the light on how hard he worked when he was still working his way up the rankings and how it propelled him to the man that he is now:

"Looking back on my journey, I think it's all been about my dedication. I want to thank myself for fighting until this day without giving up."

Tawanchai started his ONE Championship career with a knockout win against Sean Clancy but suffered his first loss under the promotion soon after at the hands of fellow Thai star Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.

Taking that loss to heart, the divisional king went on a seven-fight winning streak with four finishes while also taking the featherweight Muay Thai world championship from Petchmorakot Petchyindee in September 2022.

Tawanchai confident in defeating rival at ONE 167

The PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym product will step inside the Circle at ONE 167 inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand against 'Smokin' Jo Nattawut.

The defending king won the first time they fought but it was under kickboxing rules and with his ONE world title on the line on June 7, he is more confident than ever that he can successfully defend it for a third time.

Here's what the Thai megastar said in another exclusive with Sportskeeda MMA:

"I can see his weaknesses but let's save it for the match. You'll have to wait and see in the ring."

ONE 167 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
